Suicide education by our medias

So many suicide cases in students are hearing in recent times. Their suicide temptation is increased it seems. Within one month 3 main cases have happened in Kerala. There are two reasons behind it. One is media’s publicity and the other is misuse of mobile phones.

If the Medias get an incident about suicide, they are actually educating people on different ways of suicides, how many types of poisons are there, where can be the poisons get from, etc. Medias are celebrating each events whether it is tragedy or not over their competition attitude. News reporters forget their commitment to the society and do their best to exploit all things for job hike. Just watch today's news reading method and compare it to the old one. Today they are elaborating the news unnecessarily. And they are over performing too. Most of the channels imitate English news reading styles (in attire and over performing). In Mumbai terror attacks, the over exposure of medias helped our opponents to succeed their plans. It had become a controversy too.

Mobile phones are very essential in our life that is true. But hi-tech facilities like cameras in it make trap for the girls, resulting in their tragic end in many cases. Medias should have commitment to the society. Now for news publicity they are ready to do anything. Hope they will realize the facts once and serve the society in good manner.

Different Dreams

A cartoon from artude.com

Bangalore Couples

Bangalore - the city of gardens is famous for its richness of parks. So the people here don’t feel the dullness of city life compared to other cities. Enough parks and gardens provide the nature’s feeling at its best. But today’s young generation is not like the old. Today they have enough money to spend with, also enough boy/girl friends to date with. Young couples are a common view in parks, shopping malls etc. They do their extreme without considering the public . I read about this in a magazine 4 months back. A policeman questioned such an unauthorized couple, but they questioned him back, that it is none of his business. I also had to face many horrible experiences when I take my kid to such places. So parents are conscious about this when they go out with the kids. These kids are growing within this group of people. What will be happening in their future? Wait and see…. As a mother I feel a little nervousness about this problem.

Ear Eaters

What will be your reaction when a child cries continuously and making irritation always?
Or anyone always making annoyance? Gradually we hesitate to hear that sound. Why I mentioned it here is because, in sometimes I feel the same when I hear the sound of my phone. The reason is nothing but the disturbance of tele marketing people. I think all mobile phone customers are suffering this problem. It changes our mood in sometimes. We will be attending the phone within some emergency in sometimes, that time we are forcefully hearing the irritating sound of such calls. So as the result, whenever we get some real calls also, picking the phone will be in a bad mood. It affects the talking and even the relationship too.

What I have done to avoid is I have saved all numbers which I get calls often and I wont attend the call next time. So nowadays it is reduced. One of my friends went to the company outlet 3 times and gave warning. He threatened them that the next step will be a protest. Simply he said it, but it was effective. Now he is free from such calls. In metro cities the problem is that we won’t get anyone to unite and do something.

There are enough Medias here to advertise and to sell the products. This is not proper way to forcefully telling something to others ears. Most of such calls will be recorded type. So we can’t even react to them that time.

When I was planning to write something about this problem, yesterday incidentally I could see news about the same topic in news paper. Those informations are really useful. I am quoting those points also with this post.

The name of such calls is Unsolicited Commercial Calls (UCC). It is issued by Telecom Regulatory Authority of India (TRAI) for telecommunications. A consumer can register his telephone number in National Do Not Call registry (NDNC) by calling 1909 or sending SMS by typing “START DNC” to 1909.

If it is not activated even after 45 days of registration, a complaint can be lodged with the service provider.

Morning sunlight and its fine effects.

We might have seen newborn infants are exposed to morning sunlight. Also prayer to God Sun which Hindus do as their ritual every morning after a bath. There are scientific reasons behind these deeds. Sunlight is utilized as treatment for physiologic jaundice. As the devotees turn 3 times while praying to Sun, the entire body gets sunlight. For many skin diseases, sunlight is advised as a medicine in Ayurveda.

Sunlight always denotes happiness and joy. Sunlight also brightens our day, gives positive energy to think and act compared to darkness or lack of sunlight. That is the reason why in winter season, people are moody, depressed and less productive. (The lack of sunlight lowers serotonin which is the hormone that is usually elevated when a person is happy).

Vitamin D which is essential for the skin, bones and hair growth is derived from the sun.

So we don’t have to be hesitated to expose our self to the early morning sunlight. It is good for our mental and physiological health.

Here comes yet another day of children……..

Children are the most sinless ones in the world. It is the only one reason everyone like children. But in today’s world even their life is not safe in the sense child abusing, child labor etc. Children under the age of 15 are the main victims. The boys and girls are equally abused (shows a survey).

Today we celebrate Children’s Day as the 119th birthday of their beloved chachaji. The above picture made me think that only children can enjoy their life without any egos, complexes and despair. Let them celebrate their childhood and let our memories of childhood help us to relieve a little bit from our troubles.

HAPPY CHILDRENS DAY TO ALL KIDS!!!!!

Some additional facts about infertility.

Infertility clinics are growing fast these days. Scientifically there are many reasons behind infertility. Low sperm count, quality of sperm, hormonal imbalance, lifestyle factors (smoking and drinking), physical conditions and age are these. But if the couples are aware of certain things, this problem will not hurt them any more I think.

1.Late pregnancy: Late pregnancy in the sense the long gap after marriage before trying to conceive. All doctors suggest that the first pregnancy should be immediately after marriage. There are many reasons behind it. But most of us holdup it for our conveniences. In between this gap many artificial contraceptive methods are used and after all the result become infertility.

2. Society pressure: Society views such couples in a different view point. Try to understand that it is not our skill getting a kid without any problems but it is our good luck. So don’t try to interfere them with unwanted questions.

So what I am tried to say is that try for the first baby immediately and the gap between first and second child can be 3 or 4 years. If we follow the doctors advise in this case, a limit of infertility cases can be reduced. And the other problems, certainly we have to consult doctors.

The image given above is just an imagination.

A packet food calamity......

In today’s hectic life, we all depend packet foods for our convenience. Lack of time and easiness are the two main factors which we are attracted towards it. Wide variety of packet foods are available aiming infants to old aged. The sad thing is that even infants are depending packet milk powder instead of breast milk. Today’s mothers are not at all ready for breast feeding. Through breast feeding the baby gets the immunization power. No other products can beat that natural thing.

I was provoked to post this topic when I heard about the latest event happened in China. Thousands of babies were badly effected by using poisonous milk powder. The chemical “melamine” was added in it which was used for making fertilizers and plastics. The after effect was kidney stones and some had kidney failures. Think about the cruelty. Few children already died and thousands of children are sick. We could not have done anything against it, but we can avoid such products.

India also was a big customer of that product. Now that product is banned here for three months. Chinese state-run media announced that 21 more companies were found producing milk powder tainted with melamine. Let us try to bring up our kids in the natural and secure way.......

Violence get ahead in India.

India is getting popular for its Religious Violence nowadays. Events that happen in many states of India especially in Orissa shows its depth. Now it is spreading to other states too. We all forget the good principles of religions that it is not for violence. We all get mental peace through prayers and the worship centers provide the best circumstances for it. But in today’s condition can we go to a church and pray there with that peace of mind? I think when we go to interfere the belief of others and try to draw others to hike the density of one religion, all these things happen. Everybody has his/her own belief and stick on it. Religious changes play an important role in this violence. Understand the fact that religions are not for fighting, but for lighting a better life.

Ganesh Chaturthi

It is a great festival of north Indian Hindus, especially in Maharashtra, Goa, Gujarat, Karnataka and Andhra Pradesh. It is celebrated as the birth day of Ganesha, the son of Lord Shiva and Parvathi. The celebrations last for 10 days. These days the Ganesha idol is worshipped in houses and it is immersed in lake or river or ocean with great celebration on the final day. All people take part in the procession. The festival symbolizes the victory of the good over the evil.

But there is a serious impact on this festival. Before the idols were made by clay and now it is done with plaster of paris, because of convenience of moulding, lite weight, less expensive etc. The chemicals on these idols create environmental problems, cause the death of fish in lakes and rivers.

Actually all the festivals which we celebrate have a good moral value and this help people to get the inspiration of living through that values. It helps people to think good, do good and live good. Let these festivals give us the positive energy to lead a good life.

Teacher’s Day

Today, September 5th is celebrated as teacher’s day. It is celebrated as a compliment to the contribution made by the teachers to the society. It is the birthday of Dr. Sarvapalli Radhakrishnan who was a scholar, president of India and above all a teacher. When Dr.S.Radhakrishnan became the president of India in 1962, some of his friends and students asked his permission to celebrate his birthday. But he replied “instead of celebrating my birth day, if it is celebrated as teachers day, it would be my proud privilege”. From then onwards, we celebrate September 5th as teachers day in India.

Teachers have the main role in molding a new generation. If they can do it for social commitment too, it means more. Now I really understand the value of The Times of India’s TEACH INDIA initiative. It is such a wonderful act to educate poor or under privileged children. They started this plan for fulfilling this dream of teaching poor.

5 metro cities from India were selected for this initiative. Delhi, Chennai, Mumbai, Kolkotta and Bangalore are these 5 metros. Thousands of applicants were ready for this job. Students, housewives, businessmen, executives and senior citizens came forward to make this initiative success. As the first step these volunteers will be given training. After that they can choose their convenient timings to teach the children. It is only 2 hours in a week.

Teaching is not merely a job, but it is a social commitment. So in this teachers day we can heartily congratulate a news media's attempt to raise the value of teachers in a socially committed way.

“Kids”- the success mantra behind many products’

Without advertisements no product can beat the marketing world. Kids are the main factors of many advertisements. (Not only for kids products but for all range of products). Kids in advertisements attract customers more easily. It is a marketing strategy of advertisement agencies.

In some cases, these ads are giving negative impact in kids minds, because of the theme and kids are the main viewers of these ads. “Teasing elders or always victory upon others” become the themes of these ads. Our tiny ones are now totally hooked on to television and they are fascinated by the amazing world of ads. As most families are nuclear, parents don’t get enough time to spend with kids and normally they become addicted to television channels. As a result these programs make a deep influence in their minds, and as its impact, they want to succeed always. They are not ready to face failure. Due to long time TV watching, they lose intimacy to others. Lots of cartoon channels are available now. Jetix, cartoon network, Nick, Hungama and pogo are some of these. In some cartoons fighting and unusual powers are the themes. So ads and cartoons make such type of negative influence in kids. It is our responsibility of parents to make them realize the facts.

Many kids products offer some free gifts with their pack for attracting children. So for getting these gifts, parents are forced to buy these things. So automatically we fall into their business trick. In exam season, we can see the launching of many products targeted on these kids. So for more intelligence and power, parents depend these ready made products by the influence these ads. Instead of that if we are using the natural foods, we will get 100% result from that. But all we have to do is spend some time for it.

Why this harthal and bandh?

A mother who carries her little one to a hospital on harthal day, without getting any vehicles.
Sorrow of a mother who had to wait for long hours to reach her son's dead body on harthal day.
Is it really meant for a particular problem solving or for hurting the people? Whatever the politicians say for supporting this, majority of Indian people cannot join with them as it becomes unkind and shameful in some cases. Many incidents which happened in Kerela yesterday are examples of the awful results of harthal. Can anyone support the harthal makers after knowing the pathetic situation of a mother who had to wait for long hours to see her son’s dead body? Also one more mother running with her 4 month old child to a hospital nearby for 15 minutes without getting an auto. Whenever our people quit the harthal aspiration, then only our country can develop. This is the truth……

Lalbagh Botanical Garden…..the proud of Garden City

A view from the flower show-2008
A view from the flower show-2007

Glass house
Lalbagh is a 240 acre widespread garden with wide variety of trees, herbs and flowerbeds. Hyder Ali commissioned the building of this garden in 1760. And his son Tipu Sultan completed it. The horticultural wealth of this garden is the outcome of importing of trees from several countries by Tipu Sultan.

It is really a commendable thing that such a big part of Bangalore is covered by a huge garden. There are many tourist points inside this garden. One of them is the glass house. Its design was inspired by the famous crystal palace of London. The other tourist locations inside this garden are,
01. Floral clock
02. Maharaja statue
03. Aquarium
04. Band stand
05. Rose Garden
06. Lake
07. Watch Tower
08. Silk cotton tree
09. Tree fossil
10. Lotus pond
11. Glass House
12. Dove cot
13. Horticulture information center
14. Bonsai Garden
15. Kempe gowda tower
16. Topiary garden
17. Japanese Garden
18. Directorate

Here, flower shows are conducted twice in a year. On Republic Day and on Independence Day. This shows will last for one week. It is conducted inside the glass house. An exhibition also will be conducted relating to this flower show. We will get precious foods items(all natural), handicraft products, seeds of plants, plants and everything related to horticultural that we never get outside. Jam made of rose petals and honey is very delicious.

I think it will be really a wonderful experience to visit this Botanical Garden.

Dowry…the real problem maker in married life.

Dowry system began long back in the good sense of sharing the expense of settling a new house for the partners after marriage. For that the girl’s parents gave it as a gift. But now it has become the worst thing in our society. Dowry harassments and unnatural deaths are widely spreading. Whatever the origin may be, many women suffer its after effects. A minority of youngsters are against this dowry system today, but bride’s parents are the problem makers I think. Even though the groom’s family denies dowry, parents from the other side give “something” as a gift for their status, although it is debt from others.
Take an example. Think about the expense of running a maruti 800 and Ford. In the second case we will have to undertake many adjustments to manage it. Most of the parents try to make relationship with boys from rich family, by avoiding qualities of ordinary people, due to many reasons. (Attracted by their money or job). In such cases(not in all cases) happens a stove blast or some other unnatural deaths. Dowry should not be the main thing in choosing a partner, give preference to the values of one person. There are many youngsters in our society with good moral qualities, but there may be lack of money for them. If we don’t ignore them, we can avoid large range of dowry harassments and unnatural deaths.

Divorce, a common matter in today’s life.

Many marriage lives (love and arranged) which ends up in divorce is not a rare matter in our time. Marriage is considered as a holy event and it is believed that marriage is made in heaven. But due to many factors, it is not practically happening in today’s life. It was not short period lives before. Both the partners gave importance to a family life and they both made adjustments to lead it to success. Result is their children could experience the love and warmth of parents and could live a happy life.

There are many factors which leads to family life problems.
1) One or more pre marriage relationships.
2) Hectic work schedules of both partners.
3) Lack of time to interact with each other and share their personal matters.
4) Giving less importance to a family life.
5) Women are self dependent and they don’t have to depend their men for anything so they need not have to adjust with them and this mentality finally leads to failure of family life.
6) Distrust is the main villain ruining the family life.

The new generation is not at all ready to bear any kind of terrible experiences. In one sense it is right. We don’t have to live this life by bearing the partner’s bad habits. But if we can bear it, it will be a great gain to our children. Many religious shrines offer pre marriage counseling. It is a very good method. Through counseling both the partners get awareness about married life. Beyond sex, there are many important factors which bond together the partners to lead a successful married life.

After divorce, children are the suffering factors. It leads the children to depression, and many behavioral abnormalities. God has determined each and everyone’s partner. It may not be a perfect match, but there will be a hidden aim to join two hearts, so try to find out that aim and make it practical. Sure….we can lead a successful married life.

Growing rate of sexual abuses.

Sexual abuses rates are growing terrifically in Gods own country. For long years we are hearing about this type of news. But nowadays the situation is getting more and more vulgar. Now it has reached up to child sex. Girls from 2 to 13 years are in the targeted list.

We all read about sexual abuse in newspapers and after 2 or 3 weeks, we are forced to forget it because by that time new news’s are waiting for us. The criminals don’t get enough punishment too. Or if they are getting it, it will be too late. People from bad social backgrounds or who are addicted to drugs are doing these horrible deeds. Even a 2 year old baby girl becomes the victim of their cheapest activities.

Have we ever thought about the future life of these victims and their family members? These girls become prostitutes or mentally retarded or they commit suicide in future. The most terrific situation is the people’s attitude change after this incident. All watch the victim and family in a different view after the incident. Actually what we have to do is consoling and supporting. We don’t think that it can happen to our mother, daughter, sister or wife. (Huge crowds in front of the court after the judgment is an example).

But the wondering thing is that the sexually abused girl is not ready to reaveal everything to their parents soon after the incident. There may be threatening from the other side. But how can a girl suffer all these for a long time? After many months only, some incidents are revealing. (After being caught by HIV or some physical problems). Till that time the parents are ignorant about this. That is really surprising.

A good mother should easily find out the changes in her daughter. Is all it due to the problem of today’s parenting? Parents are busy with their work schedules and they don’t get enough time to care their children. And the children don’t have the intimacy to reveal everything to their parents. I think such children fall in these traps easily.

Why people hesitate to help others?

This is the image of a cheating woman who pretends to be pregnant for getting money. Like this many and many incidents are occurring in our society. Some good personalities try to help the poor and orphans, but in some times they will be cheated by their bad activities. Now people are aware of this type of cheatings and they hesitate to do something for the poor. Many tragic deaths also happen by this people. So finally what happens means the people who are eligible for getting some sort of helps also are denied it due to others misusing.

Pet lovers

Pets give us entertainment, love and pleasure to our mind. The most loving pet is dog. Its affection and gratitude is beyond the words. In almost all nuclear families, pets are an integral part. But we should be conscious about the allergic diseases cause due to the fur of these pets. Nowadays pets are becoming the signs of status symbol. Some people go for Bush’s eye colored dog or Clinton’s grandsons type of pet. They look only for the brand. After modeling in some advertisements, the demand of some pets become high and people spend lots to make it own. As per the fashion changes, their pets also changes. In such people the intimacy will be less. Pet lovers will be kind hearted and we can trust them. Pets really help to bring out the kindness in our children’s mind. If we can develop this simple but most worth habit in our kids, that will be a great asset for the parents in their old ages.

How can we protect our children from dangers?

When I come to know about some type of accidents happening to others, I will decide never go through that path to invite accidents. But accidents are happening from some sources which we never expect. This Sunday’s incident was such a one(6-7-08). In JP Nagar, Bangalore, loss of two children came in the form of helium cylinder.

When the balloon seller came in that way, many children crowded there for the colorful balloons. Sanjay a class 5th student and Nagaraja a class 8th student included in it. The balloon man’s cycle had a helium cylinder to fill the balloons. The helium cylinder became overheated due to the continuous filling up of balloons and when the seller poured some water to make it cool, the cylinder exploded due to great pressure and Sanjay and Nagaraja died. Four other children and the seller Manoj from U.P. were severely injured. The parents are still not able to digest the fact. They can’t believe that their children went to buy the balloons just 1 minute before is no more. I really wish those parents may get courage to face the fact and to lead a normal life.

The seller who was admitted in Victoria hospital escaped on Monday. Now the investigation unit is suspicious about the gas filled in it was helium or other lighter gases like hydrogen or acetylene. All three are easily available in market.

From this incident we can realize that accidents can happen in several ways. This was really an unexpected way. I think medias can do something for it. If they do research on the possibility of unexpected accidents and give awareness to the people, it would be a good service they are doing to the society.

One side sitting on bike and its risks.

One side sitting is really risk for bike riders. Convenient sitting is two side. But it is difficult for old women (sari wearers). They can’t sit like this due to the inconvenience of the dress. This one side sitting increases the chance of accidents. When the bike do sudden break or when it is hitted by a vehicle from behind, the pillion rider loses grip easily and falls. Not even that, the back vehicle hits the body and this causes to sudden death sometimes. Lot of accidents have been occurred in this manner. It may not be possible for all ladies, but ladies should try the other way because we get more grip and can reduce the chance of falling down. Thus we can avoid some accidents of this type.

Over speed kills many……

Despite many lives have been ended with the over speed of vehicles, drivers are not yet ready to cut down their speed. Bus drivers are the main culprits behind many accidents. When read some news about it, I feel that these drivers are neglecting the pedestrians and small vehicle drivers. But the interesting thing is that best part of the riders in the bus are in a hurry and they are enjoying the thrill of over speed. They don’t think about the accidents which may happen due to this excess speed. Actually the passengers should have to take initiative to stop their death running. We all will react only when something happens to our nearest and dearest. This is not the good way of thinking. All of us should react against it. Anyway, speed governor implementation is a good method to bring down such problems .

Tragic death in an amusement park ride.

On Monday, 30th June of 2008 there happened a tragedy in Tora Tora ride of Cubbon Park amusement area. A 3 year old baby Nimra slipped off from her mother Ayesha, while the ride was moving . To rescue her child, Ayesha leaped from the ride and her head hit on a rail and she was dead. The safety measures of the park comes into the question now. A case of negligence has been booked against the contractor. Rides are supposed to have enough security system. But here nothing were done for security.
1) First of all how could they permit a 3 year old baby into that ride? Actually it is for elders. Be very strict about the age limit.
2) There should be tight belts to avoid rapid motion.
3) There should be strong railing locks that don’t open up when the ride is moving.
4) There should be lifeguards manning the rides.
At least these things have to be done seriously in all amusement parks.

Online lottery cheating.

Alert!!!!!!! Cheating can happen to you in any modes.....in the form of servants, in the form of friends, or now the new trend…..online lotteries. For a long time this mode of cheating happens. I also have seen many such mails. Initially, I was in a doubt, whether it is right or not. Soon after, I could read a news related to it in news paper. After that I am avoiding such mails. Now this is the second time the same type of event happens in Bangalore. The previous person also was from Bangalore. The new victim Raman Hegde fell in the online lottery trap. He received a mail from Nigeria, that he has been selected for a huge prize money, and he believed it. For that he lost 7 lakh rupees. He spent this amount of money as handling charges by several times. They are targeting such people. From thousands of mails they send, if only one being trapped, that is enough for them. Most people will be surprised to get such mails. We think that without being participated in any contest, get a huge prize amount is a good scheme. Raman Hegde was contacting a Mumbai based office for this. Suddenly he lost contact with this number. Then only he realized that he was being cheated. All of us read this type of news, but again fall in these traps. So when we read something, think that it can happen to me too and be prepare to avoid such situations from our life.

A Reality show victim

I am so sorry to write the rest part of one of my posts in this manner. But I have to write it. Because all parents who force their children for such shows for the sake of money should read it. This is Shinjini, a 16 year old, dance reality show participant from Kolkata. Now she is in a severe condition in Bangalore Nimhans hospital for the treatment of depression. Reason: She was eliminated from the show and the judge's comments she couldn't tolerate. These type of shows shold never create such results. Parents, participants and the entire show team should try for it.
People having no mental capacity to withstand the pressures, pleasedon't go for it.......

"Kids"maniacs/"Edu"maniacs

I love to call today’s parents these words when I watch their attitude. Majority of the parents are blind with the selfishness about their kids and about their studies. They can’t tolerate other children performing over theirs. Also they try to irritate other parents by saying their kid’s over smartness stories, about the marks they scored and about their extra curricular activities. These type of people always need an ear to vomit what they have to say. They won’t be interested to listen to other people’s says. Above mentioned is about their attitude towards other parents.

How can they hide their real character at school? Here also they will show it. They think that teachers are fools and always blame the teachers and school authorities. We can complaint against them for reasonable matters. That’s okay. First we should teach our children to respect their teachers. Don’t tell any complaints of teachers in front of our children. Where ever they study, parents also have to take care of their children in studies in the beginning (up to primary level mandatory, I think). Home is the first institution for a kid. The above mentioned type of parents, they try to change the school every year and I don’t think that their complaints will end up with it….it will go on and on…..It will be good to remember that today’s many high level persons who grace their positions have come from ordinary schools only. Despite this thinking, they can't find a solution for this problem, it will be better to go for adults counseling. Or what to say?

Garbage dumping

This is one of the examples of how we people are aware about the cleanliness of our premises. Even if garbage bins are placed, it is our habit to throw it on the roads or some places which is not recommended for it. If each and every person tries to follow the rule for garbage dumping, we can make our city clean. There are many systems to remove garbage. We should co-operate with that. If we cover the garbage before putting it in the bin, it will make easy for the employees who come to remove it. Most people are conscious about their personal cleanliness only. It is not a matter for them, how their premises are. We should start from our personal cleanliness, that’s right….but it should end with our surroundings. In such a way we can recreate a beautiful world.

Salt is not salty…….

Salt is not salty…….as well as sugar is not sugary as before…..I am observing this fact for a long time in my kitchen . I asked about it to some of my friends and they also agreed with me. Now I have to use more quantity of sugar for my tea and salt for my curries. So I think that it is the trick of branded companies to increase their business. Now all are packed items. We get fresh things by this method, but in some cases these problems also have to be faced. Now city people are depending packaged water for drinking......like that in future air also we will have to buy in a packet. Let us wait and see.........

Women Molestation

Molesters are a special species seeing everywhere but their hurting is more noticeable in Kerala, our God’s Own Country. One example is P E Usha case of Calicut University. Like that many incidents have already occurred and still occurring but are unrevealed. The interesting thing is that these molesters behave well outside Kerala. Does it show the disability of Kerala women to react? In all other states, man and woman sit together in a bus and travel . Is it possible in our state? Crowded places like buses, trains, (sometimes in aero planes too as all of us know about one of our ministers) and even in holy places like festivals in temples, churches they choose for their immoral activities.

When we criticize about one subject, we should think about its both sides. It is really irritating to see some vulgar dress code of women. They are actually attracting the opposite sex and finally it leads to some corrupt activities. In buses I have seen, some ladies chatting with the driver and many accidents have occurred due to this problem. Leave those people. But majority of women are suffering the harassment of men. The one and only solution for woman molestation is REACTION. We need not have to approach any court or anywhere, but just react to these people on the spot. If all of us are ready to do that, we can fight back with these molesters and can solve this problem. All women should be courageous to do it. Thus we can make vanish this special species from earth.

Nothing is impossible.

Five women farmers from Andhra Pradesh who are also film makers presented their movies on “sustainable agriculture” recently. They say that they had to face many challenges during their attempt to learn film making. Two of the five, Narasamma and Laxamma say that even their family members opposed it. They were unaware about how to hold a camera, about its lightings and the language English. But they went ahead by overcoming all these disabilities. After the basic course of 6 months, they became familiar with camera and finally it became their passion.
What inspired them to learn film making is that they found many possibilities in natural farming. They found that making a film and spreading it is the best way to make natural farming popular. The films outlined ways of growing seeds on your own, multi cropping and regenerative crops to ensure food supply throughout the year. They took these films from village to village and now their travels have reached out of India. They have traveled to Peru, Kenya, Germany, Mali, London, Indonesia and Philippines meeting farmers and activists connected with agriculture.
Their aim is to take the message of natural farming through the film to all farmers of the country. CDs of their films are available with Community Media Trust which has given training to them. Really wonderful right? I wish them all the success for their future plans and may their dreams come true with their film making.

Women behind the success

By reading the title, you might have thought about some good women behind the success stories. But here I am mentioning about the other side. Now all medias are selling women nudity for their business success. Print medias, visual medias, websites all are doing the same thing. Magazines and even news papers do the extreme for the sake of their circulation. E.g. Bangalore Times. It is pity to open this news paper in the presence of family members. Why should we blame these medias? Women are ready to do anything for money. Even for the ad of a pen, the attracting visual will be woman nudity. These all reveals the outlook of today’s people. Only women can take away this situation.

A tragic event in Jayanagar shopping complex.

Last Friday (13-6-08) night, there occurred a calamity in Jayanagar 4th block shopping complex, Bangalore. Due to electric short circuit, hundreds of shops in the complex were caught fire and burnt. This occurred at night, after all vendors closed their shops at 11pm. So, many could survive from death. But 76 small shops burnt fully and the remaining partially. It is really a very old shopping complex with old construction method. Ordinary people can get all items with affordable prices from here. Bags, purses, sandals, fabrics, fancy items, vegetables, fish and meat and many other pretty items were available there. Many people were depending this place for their shopping needs.

I also often visited there for some purchase. At that time my husband used to tell me about the risk of that complex if any accident occurs. Because of the old type construction, the exit ways are narrow, and if any rush occurs, nobody can come out safely and all will be trapped inside. When I saw that scene, first I remembered his words. No one of us are bothered about the safety measures of any shopping malls or entertainment places. Here, for the good luck, nothing happened to human lives. But it may not be happened always…………

Western currency and western culture

In IT city, most people are trying to blend western culture with their western money. It includes attire style, food habits and total entertainment programs. In attire style, we can imitate the other cultures, but it should not cross the limits. Contemporary dressing styles are good, but we should be careful about its decency. I think now people are not hesitated to put on some vulgar dressing styles for getting the attention of others. In Bangalore city, it is not a rare sight. Food habits means people’s addiction to junk foods. Consuming more junk foods causes many diseases due to the preservatives added in it. For entertainments people can depend pubs, dance bars, five star model theatres and can do dating also. So Bangalore is on the rise by all means. But we should be aware about good and bad things and try to implement good things in our life.

Now we have so many days to celebrate................

It is the celebration started in the early 20th century to complement Mother’s Day. This day means celebrate fatherhood and male parenting. It is celebrated in different dates worldwide. Gifts giving is an attraction of this day. In 2008, father’s day is celebrating on June 15th in most of the countries.
Before, we were used to celebrate some important days like Children’s day, Teacher’s Day, May Day etc. But now the customs are already changed. We are trying to adapt some western culture to our daily life. Now we have lot of days to celebrate. Mothers day, womens day, valentines day, friendship day are a few of them. Here, as we celebrate these days, the real profit makers are business people. We are attracted by their offers to celebrate these days. Actually we need not have to express our love through the exchange of gifts or selecting one day for celebration. Love should be never ending……should be genuine and should be the concern about others problems. No special day is needed to express it. Here is a small example how we are falling in the influence of celebrating these days.

Value of trees..........

Way to Jayanagar 4th block, Bangalore
A view from cubbon park

Uprooting a tree
The Garden City is famous for its variety of trees. We can see big trees on either side of most of the roads. These trees are a main cause of the pleasant climate of this city throughout the year. But presently the climate has changed a lot due to the crowding of buildings and vehicles. But appreciable attempts are doing to keep up the good climate. Eventhough lot of trees are uprooting for modern infrastructure, these are putting back with the co-operation of the forest department, metropolis and environmentalists. For the metro rail project in Bangalore, many huge trees were to be uprooted from MG road, but they all could be successfully put back in Cubbon park. It is a great thing in my opinion. In most of the cities, (even in villages also) trees are axing for their development works. They have to be aware of the value of trees and its influence on our environment. I am glad about the good outlook of considering trees as precious things in our Garden City.

Our negligence towards everything ……..

This is the image of water tank in Domlur layout(airport road) in Bangalore. Its leakage is neglected by the authorities. If anything happens, the lost will be huge. It is our habit to neglect everything, and after something happens we all will raise our voice against it. Minute troubles are getting bigger and bigger. If we can solve it in the beginning, great calamities can be avoided.

Best Citizen Journalist

Best Citizen Journalist was Amrita channel’s one different reality show. This show could bring out some talented journalists from ordinary people. It was not an entertainment show, but very much informative about our social immoralities. Many participants could reveal and solve many such issues within a very short time period. That was the success of that show too. The judging panel and the anchor also have a main part behind its success. Each and every participant’s dedication and courage also have to be appreciated. Finalist Ratheesh and first runner up Bonymol's reports were really great on the day of grand finale. Actually we have to promote this kind of shows so that it can make a lot of good changes in our society.

Now it is the time of reality shows…….

Malayalam, Hindi, Tamil, Kannada, Telugu and all language channels are now running variety of reality shows with high ratings, and the serials are now a bit lower level. These shows were based on music at the beginning. Now different types of reality shows such as news related, dance related, overall performance related, acting related and especially targetted for mothers too has touched the heart of viewers. These channels help to give the best platform to exhibit our young generation’s talents. Also they are rewarded with very high offers from the sponsors. But as the reward goes to very high range, I feel the contestants are in a high pressure. The real spirit of competition vanishes here. They are attracted more by the prize value. If anybody is eliminated from the show, they think that their world ends with that. All participants should try to view it in the right spirit. Only one can win in any competition. Nowadays, many participants in a famous reality show have already participated in other channels before. Even the second runner up of Amrita TV superstar is now participating in Asianet’s idea star singer. In my personal opinion, it deteriorates the entire show’s value. As a viewer, I don’t feel it fair, because that made me think that, these people are not getting a good future with these shows. Only a few gets. Many of them are coming to these shows by giving up their studies. Lots are coming out with their talents, some of them can shine in this field, and others don’t worry go back to your studies.

Influence of hypermarkets(supermarkets) in consumers.

From Star Bazaar

From Total
Now people of Bangalore city is depending more on hypermarkets for their shopping needs. Big Bazaar, Star Bazaar, Reliance fresh, Reliance mart, Home town, Staples, Spar, More, Food world, Spencers, Vishal and Total are some of these. Within two years, the arrival of some of these hypermarkets were fabulous. They give the very best offers to customers and it attracts people in a great manner. We get all household items under one roof – that is the speciality of these hypermarkets. We will get wide range of products, (from vegetables to electronic items) with high quality and best prices. But the problem is for small shop keepers. These malls are raising a high competition to these small shops. If this condition persists the result will be the shutdown of these small shops. That time these malls will attain the monopoly and then they can do anything on the price of items and quality. We might not get these good prices and quality that time. That is why in Kerala, a political party is highly against the arrival of hypermarkets. But all are the part of globalization only. What we have to do is just be a part of it now, and should be groomed to do something against price hikes by keeping it in mind. All of us should be united for it that time.

New school timings in Bangalore

School timings are changing in Bangalore from this year, in order to beat rush hour traffic in the city. Traffic is a great problem in Bangalore. (For covering 13 km to my husband's office, it takes nearly 1 hour every morning). The new timing is from 8.30 to 3.30 for private schools and 9 to 4 for Government schools. But parents are anxious about the early log-in. Kids are mostly effected by this new rule. Because they have to make an early rise and their daily routines have to be finished before 7.30AM. Elder children can easily adjust with it I think. They can do their duties themselves. But for kids, they cannot eat properly, they cannot do their routines in a short time period. I hope they will be used to it faster. But, as the children skip their breakfast regularly, it causes many diseases. (As its result, medical business can develop more). For children whose both paents are office going, have to suffer a little. They will have to spend alone at home till their parents come. Anyway all schools have to co-operate with this Government rule. On the other side,

a) morning is the best time for studies and

b) after school time children get enough time to concentrate on other things
can be taken as the positive points.

What leads to obesity in our kids?

Have you ever taken this problem seriously? From studies it is clear that Kids in cities are more obese than that of villages. In that majority of obese are adolescent girls. The high percentage of obese children in cities is mainly because of their lifestyle and food habits. Todays new generation is addicted to junk foods, chocolates, crisps, colas etc. Beyond this, lack of exercise too lead them to obesity. Nowadays our children are glued most of the time to television, computer and video games. They have the bad habit of having some snacks while watching TV also.

In my case during the summer vacation of my son, he spent lot of time for the above described activities. So every evening, I used to take him to a park near by. There lot of children come to play. He will play for 1 or 2 hours with them. Thus he gets body exercise and same time pleasure to his mind. After the school reopened , as every children he also depends school bus for transportation. Lack of exercise continues here again. So still I take him to the park for playing.

The main consequence of obesity is coronary heart disease (CHD), joint diseases, skin disorders and increased risk of cancers.

Some tips to avoid obesity:

1. Do good exercise.

2. Don't be addicted to junk foods.

3. Try to have some home made foods.

4. Cut down the time of watching TV.
If we are ready to go through these habits, it is sure that we can keep away the problem - "obesity".

"Mother Rapers"

I got the above visual from airport-seaport road - Cochin, near Kalamassery in Kerala. It was really a shocking image. What I felt was that we are killing our mother for our selfish needs. Studies show that in the coming century, the most valuable as well as deficient thing on earth will be water. Trees and mountains are helping to store water under the earth and this water we get from wells for our needs. As the result of digging soil from earth in a huge quantity leads to unavailability of water. This leads to climate changes and other environmental problems too. If we are aware about these things and ready to avert such cruel deeds, we can live in our beautiful earth for some more days by enjoying its gifts.

Kerala under the trap of Human Gods........

The contemporary event in kerala is as all of us have heard, some fake Human Gods (from all religions) and their threatening activities. Despite our people are educated, every year such personalities and their devotees are increasing only. People are blindly following these kind of fake citizens. These devotees fall in their traps due to their personal problems and they think that they can survive it by believing them and fllowing their rituals. People are ready to spend enough money for their problem solving. Not only in Kerala, but in almost all states of India too, these fake Human Gods are cheating lot of people. People easily fall under the trap of these renowned personalities. We all know that there is only one God and we call different names Krishna, Allah and Jesus as per our different religions - Hindus, Muslims and Christians. (One Caste, One Religion and One God for man - Sree Narayana Guru) . Believe in that God only and get rid of such fake personalities from our life and try to make out a good society. Don't be a foolish by trusting someone having a long beard and closed eyes.

Why children's suicide rates hike after their results?

After publishing the results of final year examinations, every year children's suicide rates are hiking. Children who are not satisfied with their marks find ending their life as the only solution. It is very pity to hear such news. What leads these children to such activities? Parents have a main role in it. They insist them to study by cutting off from the outer world and bury themselves in their studies. As the result, scoring high marks and getting admission to some main courses is the one and only target in their life. If they fail to achieve that, they think "why should continue this life?".Lack of life experiences make them to think like that. Parent's over pressure and anxiety lead our children to such worst situations. All children cannot achieve high marks, but all are blessed with different talents. Try to find out our children's talents and boost it up. Studies should never be a burden to our kids. Let them learn through enjoyments. In some schools, counsllors are appointed to solve this problem. If parents also get conselling, this situation will be improved much better I think.

Influence of mobile phone in todays life

Mobile phones while riding too??? Today it is rare to see people with their hands free. i.e.all are engaged with their phones always for necessary and unnecessary matters. Invention of mobile phone has changed our lifestyle a lot. It has many advantages as well as disadvantages. In my observation, todays young generation cannot spend even a minute without doing anything. That time also they do something in their phones like sending messages, gaming or just browsing. They are that much addicted to this equipment. Lot of mobile phone misuses and its consequences are reported in many news papers and magazines. In case of students, it is a cause to divert their attention from their studies. Because, if he/she gets a missed call from any number, they will be curious about that unknown person, and finally it leads to improper relationships in some cases. It is not only affected to students, but it is affected to people at any age also. So if we have decided to use it only in the right manner, there will not be any problem and we accidents, can make use of its benefits. The most dangerous thing about mobile phone usage is talking while riding. There are laws against this also. But no one cares that. Lot of road accidents happen due to carelessness of these riders. Pedestrians also should take care of road accidents. Because I have seen that while crossing road, they will be in chat with somebody, and cross it without much attention. One day it happened in front of our vehicle too. So finally my opinion is that if we are ready to use the mobile phones in the proper way, we can make use of its full benefits and enjoy our life in the happiest way.

Mobile phones: the impact in pregnant ladies

Latest studies turn out that pregnant ladies who use mobile phones even two or three times a day cause birth of kids with behavioural and emotional problems. These kids show hyper activity, difficulties with conduct, emotions and relationships. These problems in children's health are not lower than the problems causing due to alcohol and tobacco. So in pregnancy it is better to turn down the usage of mobile phones so that we can assure our kids health in a great way. Usage of mobile phones by kids also raise a lot of health problems. Todays generation is addicted to mobile phones. It has become a part of their daily life. Its consequences I wish to explain in one of my coming posts.
