New school timings in Bangalore

School timings are changing in Bangalore from this year, in order to beat rush hour traffic in the city. Traffic is a great problem in Bangalore. (For covering 13 km to my husband's office, it takes nearly 1 hour every morning). The new timing is from 8.30 to 3.30 for private schools and 9 to 4 for Government schools. But parents are anxious about the early log-in. Kids are mostly effected by this new rule. Because they have to make an early rise and their daily routines have to be finished before 7.30AM. Elder children can easily adjust with it I think. They can do their duties themselves. But for kids, they cannot eat properly, they cannot do their routines in a short time period. I hope they will be used to it faster. But, as the children skip their breakfast regularly, it causes many diseases. (As its result, medical business can develop more). For children whose both paents are office going, have to suffer a little. They will have to spend alone at home till their parents come. Anyway all schools have to co-operate with this Government rule. On the other side,

a) morning is the best time for studies and

b) after school time children get enough time to concentrate on other things
can be taken as the positive points.

I am very desparately looking for a school for my son who is 2 and a half years old. I am from Chennai and having attended school that worked from 8:00 AM to 2:00 PM even for higher secondary classes giving us more time to work on projects and cultural activities (with both Sat and Sun off), I find it so weird that schools here operate long hours and that when the child returns home he/she is so haggard to do anything at all for the rest of the evening. Honestly, how can the schools expect children to sit through these long hours? We ourselves cannot concentrate in a meeting for more than 1 hour. More so, I have seen a whole bunch of kids studying in the school near my house leaving at 9:00 PM (special coaching I guess for senior classes). This really worries me when I think of my son's education...

schools for any grade should not be more than 5 hours a day. in bangalore it is too much as schools run from 8:30am to 3:30pm. it means a child has to leave home atleast between 7:30 am to 8:00 am (depending on availability of transportation) and reaches home back at 4:00pm. This means he has to compromise his breakfast as well as lunch too because they can't carry a whole meal to school. This happend with my child too. Since the school children are in their growing stage the govt and school both should think about it. the best timings for all the schools in India should be 8:30 am to 1:30 pm.

Its very true that the heavy traffic in Bangalore hinders the students from top CBSE schools in Bangalore to reach their schools on time.
